Fire Extinguisher Training 2026
April 2026, Tahsis JCRs did live fire extinguisher training. Before practising with the extinguishers JCRs learned about; the different types of fires, types of extinguishers, and proper methods to put out fires.
During the live practise JCRs used two different size and type of extinguisher. the first was a water, and the second was a dry chemical. the Tahsis Volunteer Fire Department fire fighters tested the JCRs ability to successfully and safely put out small fires.















Spring Break Leadership ETS 2026
March 2026, One of the Tahsis JCRs participated the Spring Break Leadership Enhanced Training Session. This Training was 10 days long and took JCRs from across 4CPRG to multiple cities. JCRs started in Winnipeg with leadership training, volunteer work, kickboxing, yoga, escape rooms, and a cooking class. Next in JCS they did an art class, skiing, snowmobiling, and swimming. They ended off in Vancouver doing paintball, challenge day, and a JCR planed day.
Challenge day, they were given clues and had to find locations through out the city. This was a competition to see which group could find and get to all the locations first.
JCR planned day, the youth had to plan their own group activity. making sure to consider such things as timings, cost, location, and group interest.
Through out the trip JCRs took turns leading their peers to the events, organizing equipment needed, and giving positive feed back to their peers to help everyone grow.








Cadet Leadership weekend 2026
February 2026, One of the Tahsis JCRs was invited to participate in the Cadet Leadership weekend in Comox at HMCS Qudra.
JCRs learned various principals like leadership, teamwork, and problem solving. There were classes ranks structures, communication and competitions in drill. The weekend ended with a final parade.



Christmas Feast and Food Hampers 2025
December 2025, the Tahsis JCRs hosted a Christmas Feast for their families, and helped the Nourish Nootka Sound Neighbourhood Necessities Society sort and deliver Christmas Hamper. For the family feast JCRs had to research recipes, scale the recipes for a large group of people, make a shopping list, prepare, and serve all the food.





Remembrance Day 2025
November 2025, the Tahsis JCRs lead the Tahsis Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in Tahsis. JCRs along with member of the RCMP and the Tahsis Fire Department, Marched on the Flags, took a moment of silence and laid wreaths with fellow community members.







Wood shed 2025
October 2025, the Tahsis JCRs learned how to build a wood shed. They used various power tools, read blue prints, shingled the roof. There are a few more finishing touches that need to be added. This was a huge accomplishment and asset that has been added to our campground..







Trailblazer 2025
May 2025, the Tahsis and Gold River, JCRs traveled to Parksville. They learned how to ride and take care of horses, range skills involving different types of fire arms, and navigation/ hiking skills. they also tested their axe throwing and bowling abilities along with some laser and archery tag.







NMC 2025
May 2025, youth from across Canada traveled to Toronto Ontario to participate in the National Marksmanship Competition. They experienced shooting in different positions and at different targets. There was also a cultural component where they went to the CN tower and also a Blue Jays Game. Tahsis was lucky enough to send one of our youth on this amazing experience.









Rock & Sea 2025
February 2025, the Tahsis and Gold River JCRs traveled to Comox. They learned skills in scuba diving, rock climbing, and problem solving.









Christmas Feast 2024
December 2024, Tahsis JCRs made a Christmas feast for their families. They found all the recipes, planed all the ingredients, and did all the cooking.



Shelters in November 2024
November 2024, Tahsis JCRs made their own shelters out of a tarp and some rope. they spent the whole night in their shelters.









Winter Shelters 2025
March 2024, Tahsis JCRs made created one large snow shelter. Due to rising temperatures they were not able to stay in the shelter.
